How To Prevent Getting Lost In the Woods
How to prevent getting lost in the woodsJohn Wayne Hibbitts Sr.
Before you go hunting, camping, fishing, hiking, or just going for a nature walk it is a good idea to take these steps to prevent getting lost.
Don't go alone Take someone with you. Let people know where you are going Let at least three people know the location where you will be, how long you will be there, and at what point they should send someone to look for you. Bring a compass, GPS locator, and a cell phone Always take a GPS locator, a compass, and a cell phone with you. As you walk you can bend twigs to point the direction back to where you came from. Go prepared In an emergency situation you will be able to fish, drink fresh water, and have a place to sleep with these items. Take a backpack with basic essentials, such as, a light weight pup tent, water tablets, a fire starter, fishing line and hooks, a mirror, magnifying glass, and some MRE"s.
